I followed a link and found this story, i liked it and it raises all sorts of questions (for me anyway), can the cat smell the life draining out of the old people, or maybe cats can see death and this one sits with the people to stop them being scared, although that seems a bit too altruistic for cats. I'd go for the former explanation, animals can sense all sorts of things, like earthquakes and tins of cat food being opened two streets away, detecting the life draining out of someone is probably an easy one.

If you're a believer in the permanence of the old Gods (not this modern fundy bollocks, proper old Gods) this story looks like Bast ....

Cats were rightly revered in Egypt because of all the good work they did for charidee, like keeping mice and rats under control, apparantly they'd also take on cobras as well, this kind of feline daring has not been seen since the invention of the comfy chair.

.... and tastes like Anubis

Anubis looking a bit green, the workload's obviously getting to him

Maybe Anubis is on holiday at the moment and Bast is looking after things while he's gone. A more cynical person might say that the cat is the one killing them off...

Unlike Henry's cat who mostly just played about, Harold Shipman's cat was a bit more serious as he began his rounds for the day

I'm not going to bitch today about the laissez faire attitude concerning the gradual un-separation of church and state in amerikkka, go to our faithful watch-dog for news and comment, and a sorry state of affairs it presents as well.

I watched some telly this week about earth history, and in particular the shaping of the planet carried out by glaciations. The evidence is that the crust under scandinavia, once the two mile thick ice-sheet retreated, bounced back, and is still bouncing upwards at about 9mm per year or 1m per hundred years. If you're a geology student or a bit of a n3rd things like these will make you happy, my happiness derives from the fact that things are happening all the time over which we have no control and reinforces the point that we're really insignificant, and rather than ignoring the beauty and majesty of the universe and making an ideological wall to block them out, revel in the immensity of it all. If you're having trouble getting your head around the immensity and majesty of the universe i would suggest a dose of lsd until everything makes sense.

Heres a picture of some rocks which have been ground out by glaciers passing over them, or if you're an idiot, by the great flood retreating (duh, like the grand canyon), you can choose.

Groovy man
