channel 4 has finally killed the never ending carnival of 24/7 fuckwittery that is big brother. This leaves burning questions such as,

- where will attention whores go to get their 'big break' in order to become the kind of z-list celeb you see being refused access to west london bars (i'm guessing simon cowell's numerous cavalcades of shit will take up some of the slack jawed tosspots)
- how will channel 4 fill 200 hours a week of space in their schedules
- does this herald the end of the 'reality age' where you're guaranteed that 50% of all televisual offerings will follow the same tired format of watching twats try to execute simple tasks

I can even remember when the 'reality age' made its evolutionary leap from makeover shows featuring plebs to fully involving the plebs in the task, it was about the same time as Equinox disappeared and Horizon became all Discovery channelly smash/bang and showing the same pieces of snatch video over and over again while re-emphasising the same point over and over and over, that time truly was the death of semi-intelligent television programming, you win this time lowest-common-denominator-demographic-man, but we'll return sometime and carve your morlock hides into something more useful than partially transitory, odourous, dust covers for cheap sofas.

The beeb has made a small effort, but it's not enough to counter the fecal hatred that Sky pours into our homes, and if you're unlucky enough to live in the US you may as well retire to your seccesationist bunker, bomb up the assault rifle and await the rapture. I am happy to see that more and more businesses are pulling their adverts from Fox and especially from the Bill and Beck (the crackpot men) shows, whose monologues of hatred, racism and ultimate wrongness continue unabated.

In trolling through Fark, it seems that in nearly all pieces of (clearly librul influenced) journalism, the GOP or RNC are saying something incredibly stupid that is clearly counterproductive to the well being of individual citizens, but also obviously benefits the money-men in their continued, uninterrupted rape of the people that's gone on since the days of the Virginia Company. Is it just me or are they not even bothering to disguise any more the fact that everything they say and do protects the current situation where big business takes all money generated by the GDP of the country and puts profits way ahead of people in the coldest way possible.

Unfettered free-enterprise and the faux ideals of supply side economics is ensuring that 'the land of the free' are just hollow words to cover up the enslavement of a whole country to benefit the few, 'don't step on us' 'cos we're already capable of stepping on ourselves, thankyou very much.

Now that South America has decriminalised pretty much all the useful drugs for personal consumption as has portugal, and while not decriminalised, holland is still being very grown up about the whole thing, the shoutiness from [ahem] texas, is reaching fever pitch. In the UK the whole question is being repeatedly swept under the carpet (which is the well established procedure in UK politics) and the adage of 'never discuss, never have to give an answer, quick show the media something shiny' still reigns supreme.

I tried to find out how australia is doing in it's wholesale clampdown and policing of the interwebs, but since last year it's all gone quiet there too. Mandelson the big cunt finally caved in last week to the media companies and said that ISP's have to police their customers and cut them off whenever they are told to do so for file sharing, the ISP's gave a big 'fuck off' back to the government but some stupid piece of shit legislation will be barrelled through the commons and then they'll have no choice but to do as they're told, the tabloids are already dredging up examples where people have been cut off because they have the same name with someone who has been file sharing, our government and police force is so incompetent that there is no way this can be executed efficiently.

Just like everything else, ah but they've always been incompetent and inefficient, it's just the british way, we'll muddle through somehow, sure you may lose a few personal freedoms and liberties will be taken, but it's not so bad as long as they don't put up the price of fuel and beer....
